If you’ve been looking for a new way to enjoy dessert, you’re in luck. Whether you want something sweet and fruity, or chocolatey and rich—or if you want to try something totally new—these cake recipes are easy enough for anyone to make. And they’re delicious!
Blueberry cake
Blueberry cake is a great way to use up those fresh blueberries you picked at the farmers’ market. You can also use frozen, but fresh is always better if possible!
The batter for this recipe is simple, but you have some options for what type of cake you want to make:
- Cake mix or homemade? Cake mixes are quick and easy, but they taste pretty bland compared to making your own batter from scratch. If you’d like to try something new and delicious, go ahead and make your own cake batter! It’ll take more time than using a boxed mix but it will be worth it in the end.
- Chocolate chips or nuts? I personally love adding chocolate chips into baked goods like chocolate chip cookies or brownies–and this blueberry cake recipe would be no exception! But if you’re worried about them getting burnt while baking in the oven (or microwaving), then nuts would work just as well! Nuts also add extra flavor when paired with other sweet ingredients like honey or maple syrup so keep that in mind when deciding which option works best for your taste buds/personal preferences.”
Chocolate chip cookie cake
For this recipe, you’ll need:
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar (you can also use light brown or white)
- 1 egg, beaten slightly with a fork in a small bowl.
To prepare the ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and beat well until smooth; scrape down sides of bowl as necessary during mixing process to ensure everything is incorporated evenly into batter mixture! Don’t worry if your cake doesn’t look like it’s coming together at first–it will eventually!
Peanut butter cup cake
Peanut butter cup cake
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted if lumpy (or use a spoon to break up any lumps)
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules, dissolved in 2 tablespoons boiling water. Add the water after you’ve stirred your cocoa powder into the dry ingredients so you don’t end up with clumps!
Lemon poppy seed bundt cake
This recipe is so simple that you can even make it at home. It’s a great way to get started on your baking adventure!
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a bundt pan with butter or cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, poppy seeds, baking powder and salt until well mixed. Add eggs one at time until completely combined (the batter will be thick). Add vanilla extract; stir until incorporated into batter mixture. Stir in zest from lemon slices into mixture as well; set aside for later use in glaze/icing step below.*
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.* Remove cake from oven when done; let cool completely before inverting onto wire rack.* While cooling down after being removed from oven let’s start making our icing! Create simple syrup by mixing equal parts water + sugar together over low heat until dissolved then set aside while still warm enough so as not too harden up but not hot either because we don’t want our glaze burning anyone’s mouth when they eat this delicious treat!
Carrot cake
This is a delicious carrot cake recipe that’s perfect for beginners. It requires basic ingredients, and you can use store-bought frosting if you don’t want to make your own. The best part is that it’s not too sweet–you can add more sugar if you like your desserts sweeter!
- 1 box of white cake mix
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter (if using butter, omit egg)
- 2 eggs (if using butter, omit egg)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Banana split icebox cakes
You can use any flavor of cake and ice cream you like, but make sure to pick the same flavor for each layer. If you’ve got a favorite chocolate sauce or whipped cream recipe, feel free to add that in too!
For this recipe I used:
- A chocolate cake mix (I recommend Betty Crocker.)
- Chocolate ice cream with fudge swirls (any brand will do.)
- Whipped cream frosting from a canister (the kind I used was Hershey’s.)
Cotton candy made with marshmallow fluff and whipped cream. (Just because you can’t go to the carnival.)
This cotton candy recipe is simple and delicious. It’s just like the stuff you get at the fair, except it’s made with marshmallow fluff instead of sugar. You’ll need a candy thermometer, a stand mixer or hand mixer (with whisk attachment), a large bowl, a large pot and some kitchen twine or string.
Cotton Candy Recipe:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
